WI-FI to LI-FI

wifi and lifi

Now a days ,most of the people are familiar with the term WI-FI. Airport, library.college, restaurant, shopping mall, office, home etc....people use it in many places.many of those users is not aware of its successor LI-FI.

Wireless communication is well liked when compared to wired communication for obvious reasons.

The WI-FI technology uses the radio waves as carrier to transfer data where as LI-FI technology uses light as carrier for data transfer.

Mr.Harald Haas, a German physicist has come up with another idea of transferring data using illumination.

Researchers at the Fraunhofer Henrich Hertz Institute (HHI) in Germany have successfully transmitted data at 3Gbps using conventional LED bulbs in a laboratory setting. In a real-world setting (at a trade fair), the same system was capable of 500Mbps.

Li-Fi has the advantage of being able to be used in sensitive areas such as in aircraft without causing interference. However, the light waves used cannot penetrate walls.
